About the event
Academia and industry don't talk to each other enough. So we're bringing the YC Paper Club to Cambridge.
Please apply via Luma to attend this event.: https://luma.com/ycpc-cambridge-nov18
Agenda:
5:30-6:00pm: Mingling and Networking
6:00pm-7:00pm: Research Talks
7:00-8:30pm: Dinner and Networking
Harvard Grid and Y-Combinator will be hosting a small group to discuss new research papers. We’ll first have a series of paper presentations that are ~10 minutes each. Then we'll have a dinner to keep talking. Y-Combinator will post the talks on Youtube but the dinner conversation stays off the record.
The first Cambridge event topic features robotics. There have been significant advances in robotics over the last few years, spanning perception, planning, control, and tailwinds from language modeling to do general purpose reasoning. Much of this advancement is happening here in Cambridge, at the intersection of the local universities and robotics startup ecosystem.
Here are the confirmed speakers so far:
Yilun Du, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Harvard SEAS
Hanming Ye and Vincent Song, Founders of Waddle Labs (waddlelabs.ai)
Josh Gruenstein, Co-founder/CEO of Tutor Intelligence (https://tutorintelligence.com/)
We're looking for builders in industry who read papers and researchers who want to see their research enter production.
